- State Assemblyman, Elmer “Gene” Lore, Sr., met Paul Taylor, an employee for the Resettlement Administration, while he was compiling information on migrant camps in the Dust Bowl. Taylor was the husband of photographer Dorothea Lange, who had been hired by the Resettlement Administration to document the living conditions of the workers.
