Description:
Walter Karabian was born in Fresno, California, in 1938. A graduate of USC Law School, he served as a Democratic member of the California State Assembly from 1966 to 1974, representing the 45th Assembly District. He was appointed Assembly Majority Leader in 1971. While in the legislature, he authored bills that dealt with crime and law, prison reform, education, civil rights, free speech, and the preservation of endangered species in California. He retired from politics in 1974. He practices law in Los Angeles and writes and speaks on Armenian issues.
