The Denis Conforth Adam's Apple Collection documents Denis Conforth's life with a major focus on Vietnam, Chula Vista, baseball, his relationship with Appley Adams, alcoholism, addiction, and the process of recovery from addictions. The collection includes all 52 chapters of Adam's Apple I and four volumes of Adam's Apple II, which make up Conforth's autobiography. Heavily influenced by 1970's pop culture, both manuscripts include original writings along with clippings from other publications, creating a scrapbook-, stream-of-consciousness type work. Adam's Apple illustrates life in San Diego during the 1970's and 1980's through the eyes of a Vietnam veteran struggling with the after-effects of Vietnam and with alcohol addiction.
