Martin, Ray, 1918-1988 ; Music scores
Ray Martin was a composer, arranger and conductor for BBC-TV, Columbia Records, RCA, and motion pictures. He sometimes wrote under the pseudonyms: Tony Simmonds and Lester Powell. The collection contains the original manuscript scores in the composer's own hand and numbered 1 through 342. In all, there are a total of nearly 600 pieces when the unnumbered individual songs written for 21 of his albums are included. All of the scores are stamped with his American Federation of Musicians registration number. Ray Martin donated his scores to the Library in 1972 prior to his return to England in the same year. He moved to South Africa in 1980 where he lived out his remaining years.
