Description:
Approximately 225 sketches by artist Camille A. Solon, whose work appears throughout the Hearst estate at San Simeon, California. This collection consists primarily of re-worked pencil sketches by Solon; it also includes a few watercolors and some conté crayon with ink. Subjects include places in and around his native Stoke-on-Trent, England; scenes in Wales; areas around Marin County, California (where he lived most of his adult years); there is only one sketch of Hearst Castle, San Simeon, California.
