Description:
From 1975 to 1982 Jim Bates served as chairman of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. In 1982 he won election as U.S. Representative of California, District 44, and has served on numerous House committees and subcommittees. Bates lost his seat as Representative in November, 1990. The collection contains files from several of the committees and subcommittees Bates served on, as well as from some of his more well-known bills: specifically the subcommittee on Procurement and Printing, and the subjects of Navy procurement fraud, the Rural Electrification Administration's loan program, and emergency care for trauma victims.
