On February 5, 1915, San Diego's members of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) met at the University Club and formed a local section of the ASCE. The constitution of the section was adopted by the national organization on March 5, 1915, marking the official founding of the San Diego section. The local establishes professional standards for its members and promotes relationships between the public and governmental organizations. The collection consists of meeting minutes, the records of the offices of the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, materials relating to the national organization, newsletters, and published ephemera.
