Robert Chittenden was a public administrator and sheriff in Fresno County from 1906-1910. The collection contains such personal items as correspondence, promotional materials, photographs, and invitations to some San Quentin Prison executions. The crimes series (1907-1910, and undated) contains information on notable cases that Chittenden dealt with as sheriff. Among these are the Brooks case; the Domengie kidnapping; the Amado Mejia, Deputy Joe Price, Ching Kay Sin, and Vernett homicides. Included are photographs, mug shots, trial transcripts, wanted posters, etc. The photographs series is comprised of seven folders of mug shots. Other miscellaneous items include the 1906 report of the Public Administrator of Fresno County.
